Most of the stuff I had in the downloads was pretty old and outdated ebooks and texts, Most of which are pretty useless unless you just wanna read. I say some of the programming ones are still useful but anyway I was looking through the stats on the site and seen thousands of direct hits to files referred by warez sites and such. Quite a bit of bandwidth had been leeched. I guess it was my fault for leaving an open directory like that which bots could index.
I had even seen referrals fro search engines dedicated to doing this.
I will probably find a way to do the downloads in the near future, once your stuff starts getting posted on warez sites they will tear it up even if they don’t need it, just the fact they have a direct download. I had pretty big problems with warez forums before. I know projectw.org had posted some hacking videos on their forum and people was leeching the shit out of it. So I tried everything to stop it, hotlink protection, etc; to no avail. Turns out those download progs like flashget get right by hotlink protection as its a partial request.
So files section is down, that’s not what we are about anyway. I say most of them would be considered illegal warez so I don’t need no trouble with that. I will however make a download section of all the pre patched kernels, iptables, and other open source stuff I have and everyone can leech all they want.
